Our Client previously relied on Aurora DB, a relational database, for data storage. While it served them well initially, their data needs grew alongside their business. As a result, their existing setup with Aurora DB struggled to handle the increasing data volume, impacting performance and hindering its ability to analyze customer behavior and optimize marketing strategies. They were looking to migrate from Aurora DB to BigQuery, aiming to leverage the scalability and analytics capabilities offered by the Google Cloud Platform. The project involved executing a comprehensive data transformation initiative to align the datasets with the specific requirements of the e-commerce industry.
Our approach encompassed a comprehensive data warehouse migration and transformation project. Here's how we delivered value:
- Seamless Migration and Real-time Updates: We utilized Fivetran, a robust data integration platform, to migrate historical data from Aurora DB to BigQuery with minimal disruption. Additionally, Fivetran's Change Data Capture (CDC) capabilities ensured continuous real-time updates in BigQuery, empowering the Ecommerce Bookstore to make decisions based on the latest information.
- Enhanced Data Integrity: Replacing Google Data Fusion with Fivetran addressed integration challenges and improved data reliability. Furthermore, we developed a custom Python audit tool for data validation and reconciliation. This tool continuously monitored row counts between Aurora DB and BigQuery, ensuring prompt identification and resolution of any discrepancies.
